Furniture FAQ

  • We are open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9-4:30 and Saturday 10-2. Tuesdays and Thursdays are appointment only. If you’d like to guarantee a design meeting with one of our team, please email ahead of time to secure a time.

  • To get a basic quote and project order started, we will need the type of project, dimensions, species, live edge or dimensional, type of legs, and any style notes (bowties, epoxy work, electric popups, etc.).

Helpful extras: a simple sketch, dimensions or drawing of the room, photos of the space, and any interior style notes.

  • First, we’ll ask for an information checklist. Please have these items ready:

    1. Species

    2. Diameter x length

    3. Any rot or decay? Did the tree fall or was it taken down?

    4. Do you have transportation to our facility?

After that, we will go through our process and determine the type of furniture you want.

We charge $2/bf to mill and $2/bf to kiln dry. We require any lumber milled with us for furniture to be kiln dried. Labor fees for furniture are calculated by project and are custom to each piece. Please have your ideas for furniture ready so we can confirm a quote BEFORE we mill your tree. The process from log drop off to completion is from 8mo -1 yr.

Designers, Architects, and Developers: Do you have a property with trees to be cleared? We’d love to talk! Please email us for information about commercial log to table projects.

  • Yes! Please email us directly at indyurbanhardwood@gmail.com for our wholesale catalogue and group pricing.

Note we are unable to offer wholesale pricing on oversized tables.

  • Our current timeline is 6-8 weeks for most projects. If you need your furniture sooner, there is a $250 charge per rushed item. This insures we are able to devote our time to completing each project with the care and attention to detail it deserves.

Lumber FAQ

  • All of our lumber is sustainably and responsibly sourced from the greater Indianapolis area. We take trees that would otherwise be mulched, burned, or dumped. These “trash trees” are then brought to our facility to be milled and kiln dried. We process them slowly and carefully, with attention to the character and quality of each piece.

We often select for imperfections that a large lumber yard would discard, leaving us with completely unique slabs. The slabs are kept in their respective boules, so our tables are crafted from a single tree source and perfectly grain matched.

  • Not at all! Feel free to stop by anytime during shop hours, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9-4:30 and Saturday 10-2. We are available by limited appointment Tuesday + Thursday.

  • We offer full services, including flattening, on lumber purchased at our facility.

We flatten our slabs with a Slabmizer and have many pre-surfaced slabs in stock. If you find a slab you love and need it surfaced, we can give you a labor quote on site and have it ready for pickup within 2 weeks.

We offer cuts at an hourly rate. Any further services will need to be quoted as a project and will be emailed to the client within a few days of request.

We do not offer same day service or service on lumber purchased outside our facility.

  • We are not currently purchasing logs.
